Another voyage to the Kingdom ofa Far, Far Away

Kristy Oct. 10, 2010 Parks

We took the kids to the “Kingdom of Far, Far Away” again on Saturday and it was a treat because James was able to come too. Isaac wanted to go on the exact same path that he did the first time with James. First you have to start at the edge of the park and walk to tree with the purple flowers and have a picnic, then you have to go the opposite direction and go over the troll bridge and go until you get to the rock garden. Then you have to walk up to Shrek’s swamp and then you have to go rescue princess Fiona from the dragon’s lair and then go over the swinging bridge and run down the steep hill and then wander back through the green hills. Isaac had such a bounce in his step pushing his brothers along in the stroller. Levi and Ty loved being there too. Ty loved running back and forth through crunchy leaves and Levi loved scampering over the rocks. We also found some cool mini-pyramids this time.
On Sunday we somehow made it through a morning general conference session at church. Two hours really is a long time for 3 wiggly bodies. I took Ty upstairs and let him play in the nursery room for a while. In the afternoon we rewarded the boys with a family home evening excursion to “Leisure Valley,” a very cool park that I heard one of the moms at playgroup talking about. There was actually playground equipment and the boys had a blast running around and checking everything out. I don’t think the concept of plastic playground equipment has made it very far in India though. All of the playground equipment here appears to be metal, but even so it was such a happy surprise to find a park with a slide, swings, jungle gyms, and a tunnel to crawl through.
The next weekend we had a chance to explore our favorite park so far. It’s a huge area in central Delhi called Lodi Gardens. There are a couple of old 14 century mosques that you can explore. The boys liked pretending the mosques were castles and climbing up to the lookout towers. We also had a great picnic under the shade of a huge tree but then we kind of got attacked by ants and had to switch locations.
